When I started my freshman year at UCLA, I was scared, nervous, and very lost. On a whim, I decided to go to a rush event for Sigma Alpha Epsilon Pi, even though I had already decided that sororities were not for me. At that first rush event, all of my expectations for what a sorority would be like were shattered. I met a group of girls that immediately welcomed me and reignited my desire to embrace and explore my Jewish identity, who prided themselves on their differences and lived by the values of non-exclusivity. A quarter later I was being initiated as a sister of Sigma, and I haven't looked back since.
Sigma Alpha Epsilon Pi is everything I was looking for in a sisterhood, and has shaped me into the proud Jewish woman I am today. There is no doubt in my mind that the success I have found at UCLA, be it social, professional, or academic, is all thanks to Sigma. If you are a new Bruin, welcome to UCLA. You are about to embark on the most eye-opening, enriching experience of your life. I would love to join you as your sister.
